Real Madrid New Coach, Lopetegui Sacked by Spain Football Association

The Spanish FA have taken a huge step by sacking the national team coach, Julen Lopetegui who recently agreed to manage Real Madrid just days before the World Cup. There have been chaos in the Spanish national team since the announcement of the contract by the club.

The decision by the Spanish FA could be risky as they take on Ronaldo’s Portugal in two days. The Spanish FA feel betrayed at the way the Real Madrid’s negotiation was done as quoted by the FA director, Fernando Hierro who happened to also be a former Los Blanco’s captain.

Fernando Hierro, a former Real Madrid player himself and current sporting director of the Spanish FA, is understood to be an early frontrunner to succeed Lopetegui. They kick off their bid for glory with a tough opening match against Portugal on Friday night.

As at the time of this report, no replacement for Lopetegui has been mentioned but it is certain the FA would appoint a replacement as soon as possible in order to keep up with the Portugal game in two days,
